Google recently published an extensive report on hard drive failures.

Temperature is often quoted as the most important environmental factor affecting disk drive reliability. Previous studies have indicated that temperature deltas as low as 15C can nearly double disk drive failure rates

Ubuntu install problem

When I installed Ubuntu 6.10 Server on my EPIA motherboard I got this error message filling up my screen:

Unknown Interrupt or fault at EIP 00000060 c0100295 00000294

The solution was to install Ubuntu with the alternate disc instead.

Microsoft Snip IT

Finally a tool to easy send snippets from a webpage on mail. You have probably already seen this feature if you have Google Toolbar. (Google Toolbar only works with Gmail or Blogger...)

SnipIT can be used to email the selected text in Internet Explorer using the user's email client of choice. The add-on currently supports Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, Gmail and default installed MailTo client in Internet Explorer as email client options. Yahoo Mail Beta is not currently supported.
